Dow Constantine is King County Executive and the architect of the Best Starts for Kids initiative. Last year he accepted the Governing Magazine award for Public Official of the Year.
Shirley Carlson works in the fashion industry and chairs a Political Action Committee.
Together they are raising their two-year-old daughter, Sabrina, in the same neighborhood where Dow grew up and his entire family still lives. They enjoy skiing, UW football, and music. Sabrina’s current favorite band is The Clash.
Dow and Shirley believe that chairing the CommuniTea is important because: "Especially in these challenging times, we need to stand together for a better future. It is good for the kids, to be sure. But it is also good for us – to reaffirm our commitment to each other, and to these children who will, before we know it, lead us to become a better, more just community."
